PREP WEEK: HOW TO AVOID WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS

Updated: Apr 6, 2021

Detoxing from all toxic foods is liable to cause some withdrawal symptoms, such as:

  • Bad breath

  • Constipation

  • Achy, flu-like feeling

  • Fatigue

  • Hunger

  • Irritability

  • Itchy Skin

  • Nausea

  • Offensive body odor

  • Sleep difficulties

These symptoms are actually a good sign that your body and mind are eliminating stored toxins and finding their way to balance. They should disappear after three or four days.

Suggestions for making yourself more comfortable:

  • To prevent headaches, make sure your bowels are clear. See Keeping Your Bowels Clear.

  • Get more sleep.

  • Exercise daily to help fight off fatigue.

  • For hunger, eat more protein in the afternoon.

  • For irritability or having trouble sleeping, take a combination of calcium citrate (500 mg) and magnesium citrate (250 mg) before bed.

  • For upset stomach, drink ginger or peppermint tea (steeped for 10 minutes) up to four cups a days as often as needed.

  • Again, make sure you're drinking six to eight glasses of filtered water daily.
